Laid in is a printed publisher’s card “with the compliments of the author” hand-written on it as well as a photocopied closely written 30 line letter from the book’s owner, the poet & translator, Angela Livingstone. The letter wholly about this collection is both attentive & effusive, mentioning Rae Dalven’s Cavafy “…a similar trust in love, a similar philosophic & multi-varied reverence, and similar classical, uncontaminated rhythms…So many other, loved, poets sprang into my mind, a select, crystalline company, and yet your Halevi is a perfectly new voice to me, more new than comparable, a true shock of delight…”. Livingstone’s ownership signature is at the head of the ffep. Head of text-block a little foxed & front cover lightly creased.
