Quarter Leather & Publisher’s Drab Paper Covered Boards. Very Good. pp. (xl), 30, (23), (i) pubs ads. A2 (title) – F8 (pubs. ads.). No free end papers or half title. Illuminated capitals as well as head pieces at the beginning of both works as well as tail pieces to each book of Homer. Heraldic bookplate on the verso of title with 18th century gift inscription above & below it. Further writing in the same & recipient’s hands on the fly title for The Life of Zoilus and occasionally elsewhere; all in faded ink. Writing in a different partially legible hand is also clearly visible beneath both pastedowns. Spine rubbed & cracked with cords holding firm & handwritten paper label (also rubbed) reading only “Homer’s Battle”. Boards rubbed at edges & bumped at fore corners. Scarce.
