Description
Skelton, John Fawcett. The Gleaner: A Selection of Poems & Songs. London / Manchester: Simkin, Marshall & Co. / Heywood, 1876. First Edition. Rebacked Original Publisher’s Purple Cloth Boards. Very Good. 200pp. Inscribed by Skelton in blue pencil in April 1876 for a Mr Briscoe, the Nottingham Public Librarian. There are quite a number of corrections to the text in the same pencil as well as a few in standard pencil. Tipped onto the front pastedown is a four page humorous & chatty letter dated October1877 detailing current work. Sympathetically re-backed with some rubbing at edges & fore corners of boards.
