As far as indications of the author’s identity there is only the dedicatory poem for the Welsh poet & novelist “to my dearest friend, Caroline Giffard Phillipson”. In addition to which, a number of poems are dated 1852 from Halifax, Nova Scotia as well as two longer narrative poems; one (12pp.) titled ‘A Canadian Tale’ & the other (8pp.) ‘Una’ about a native Canadian girl. There are a few poems of a nautical flavour; either of her own passage or addressed to her beloved who was evidently a sailor. Corners bumped & slight surface wear to rear board
