Description
This volume provides a comprehensive selection, covering a period of 40 years, of the poetic writings of Yves Bonnefoy. The primary works of Bonnefoy are given in full and readers may grasp the lines of development towards the poet’s present formal economy. The body of selected work is taken from six principal collections, including previously untranslated material from his work, “Debut et fin de la neige”, and the prose poem “La ou retombe la Fleche”. Bonnefoy acknowledges a kind of debate in his present writing between verse and prose poetry. The introduction provides information of a biographical, thematic and critical nature. Bonnefoy won the Prix Goncourt for Poetry in 1987.
