No. 227/300 signed & numbered copies. 8pp. bound paper stock; either blank or printed letterpress rectos only which in addition to the title, prefatory material & colophon includes the text of Osip Mandelstam’s Poem on Stalin. 16pp. unbound paper stock; each monologue’s folded sheet has an offset printed facial silhouette line drawing of its speaker on the front & is housed in its own bound grey card envelope. The four monologues are taken from Saroyan’s play The Laws of Light about the relationships among Boris Pasternak, Anna Akhmatova, Osip Mandelstam & Nahdezda Mandelstam. The line drawings reappear all together printed in red, with title in black, on the grey card dust jacket. An almost unbearably exquisite production!
