Drayton’s first book published anonymously but later collected in a revised form together with other shorter pieces in a, no longer anonymous, volume from the same publishers along with T. Henney, Cheltenham, called The Early Minstrel: OR, A Sketch from Rural Nature (2nd. edition 1817). Plain modern sympathetic binding with printed paper label on upper board. Some pages opened unevenly at fore edge. Very occasional spot of foxing. Extremely scarce. Unlike both his poetic responses to Bunyan, neither this nor The Early Minstrel are in Johnson’s Provincial Poetry 1789-1839.
