Description
Griffiths, Bill. The Gododdin. London: writers forum / pirate press, 1974. First Edition. Stapled A4 Sheets. Very Good. (15pp. printed landscape) Welsh text ( holotype version of the 1250 ms held in the free library at Cardiff) & English notes + 4pp. laid in, rather than fixed to allow for direct comparison with the Welsh, is the English word by word translation of “about half the text”. In the notes Griffiths explains there is much duplication as the ms is the work of two scribes working from ms of different dates. Inscribed by Griffiths for fellow medievalist John Porter with whom Griffiths was to collaborate on their word by word translation of Beowulf. Covers a little handled & folded for mailing. An exceptional association copy of a scarce book.
