The poem is a roll-call of the illustrious blind throughout history while, in addition to his extensive notes, White’s preface is a critical survey of the then current provision for the blind. Tipped onto ffep is a small sheet of green paper with the book’s price (half a crown), the author’s statement of his circumstances & a quotation from John Coakley Letsom to the effect that the greatest service you can offer a blind person is the opportunity to earn their own living. Occasional isolated spot of foxing & contemporary gift inscription on half title. Rear hinge mended with archival japanese tissue.
