Very Good. xii, 192pp. The last six poems are by Hyslop’s wife. “Yours Sincerely, John Hyslop” at head of title page. Tipped onto rear end papers are two clippings; one is of Hyslop’s The Sang of Hope which won the Christmas competition in the People’s Journal & another from the Kilmarnock Standard April 5th 1884 containing a poem A Plain Man’s Creed dated April 1884 & article referring to Hyslop as the Postman Poet. There is also a clipping on the front pastedown of J. Currie’s Sonnet to the Postman Poet. Two opposing pages have offsetting from some since removed enclosure (clipping?). Previous owner’s address stamp in ffep. Cloth lightly soiled & a little rubbed at extremities.
