Tissue covered frontis. printed from a drawing on stone by W. Gauci of a St. Francis of Assisi style sylvan scene with the Andes in the background; a light water stain just affects the image at its fore margin. Rear board is also water stained externally at the same edge. Internally the book is unaffected with only an occasional light spot of foxing, a bold 19th century signature on the ffep and a pasted in catalogue entry for the book quoting Byron’s observation of it that ‘ .a poet’s last poem should be his best is the highest praise.’
