Mathers, E Powys.. Sung to Shahryar: Poems From ‘ The Thousand Nights and One night’. London: Casanova Society, 1925. First Edition. Qtr. Vellum & Paper Boards. Near Fine. xvi, 108pp.No.36 of 50 large paper signed copies . Light offsetting to the end papers due to the presence of the scarce dust jacket which is soiled with very slight loss at head of the spine & a 1 inch closed tear. There is a light stain to the edge of the vellum spine and a bump to the fore edge of top corner of the front board and internally the very occasional spot of foxing; otherwise a clean bright copy. Laid in is a bagged collection of obituaries for the author best known to his victims as the aptly named setter of the Observer’s cryptic crosswords: Torquemada!
