Description
AB117853, Byron Lord, Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage. A Romaunt, London , 1812, John Murray, Second and Enlarged Edition, Original Publisher’s Drab Boards, Good, pp. xii, 300 + (i) Folding facsimile of a Romaic letter tipped onto stub of rfep. Six new poems added to this edition appear for the first time. Half title present. Uncut. Bonkers bookplate of Kenneth Newton Colville on front pastedown & earlier name on ffep (really free & laid in!). Small double ink-splash at tail of title page just affecting text & penetrating to the next page. Some foxing throughout. Remains of original & recovered paper spines attached to rear board only; stitching remains firm. Despite its faults & in some cases because of them vide the spine head’s exposed signatures reminiscent of an anatomical model displaying the book’s integrity; exactly as it was made. Randolph p.20
